SoundScape - FAQ

  • My device is not playing. What could be wrong ?

- Remove the plastic strip coming out next to the RS-232 connector to initialize RTC battery. Why?: The plastic strip that protects the battery of the RTC (Real Time Clock) embedded in the device needs to be removed while the device is synced to an NTP server in order to write and save the time in the RTC.
- Check the "Local Time (Timezone)" and "NTP Server" of your device. If the Time is not correct then your SoundScape device will not play. Check that the network is not blocking the NTP Service.
- Check the SoundScape - IT Network Requirements.
- Check that you have a Deployed Schedule for your SoundScape device and that it is active. For more details about the Schedules and the Schedule Deployments please check the chapters "Create SCHEDULES" and "Deploy a SCHEDULE" of the "Portal User Manual" at the SoundScape download area [1]

  • Content Server Requirements

It is recommended to use a hosted Content Server with a Cloud hosting company and not locally hosted. Why?:
Cloud
- Easy setup and configuration
- Easily scale
- 24/7 support
Locally
- Can be higher security
- Slow and Unstable network. 99.99999% uptime is not guaranteed
- Risk of losing all information in the case of an accident or IT system failure

Here you have some examples of hosting companies: Rackspace, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure or other hosting company.
